Prof. Dr. Mitja Žagar is Research Councilor at Institute for Ethnic Studies (IES), Full Professor at Universities of Ljubljana and Primorska/Littoral, and the New University as well as guest/visiting professor/scholar at universities and research institutes in Europe, Africa, Australia and North America. Combining law, political science, diversity management, ethnic and minority studies, peace and conflict studies, he studies human and minority rights, inclusion, integration, migration(s), ethnicity, multiculturalism/interculturalism, regulation and management of (social) diversities and conflict(s), governance, participation, democracy, transition(s), federalism, autonomy, citizenship, civic and life-long learning, etc. He was director of IES (1999-2007), and member of the Scientific Council of the Slovenian Research Agency (2015-2020). As expert/reviewer/evaluator, he has collaborated with international organizations (e.g., UN, UNESCO, UNDP, Council of Europe, OSCE, Stability Pact for SE Europe, etc.), authorities and institutions in diverse countries (e.g. in the Balkans, Africa, Australia, North America), nongovernmental organizations, and foundations, research and evaluation agencies.
