Biography
Dr. Pia Valenzuela graduated in Philosophy at the Universidad de los Andes (Santiago, Chile). Later she studied theological subjects at the Centro Internazionale di Studi Villa Balestra (Rome, Italy). Then she obtained a Master of Science in Philosophy-Ethics at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. She received her PhD in ethics and philosophical anthropology at the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce (Rome, Italy). She worked as teaching assistant of philosophical anthropology and ethics at the Universidad de los Andes and Universidad Andrés Bello in Chile and Centro Internazionale di Studi Villa Balestra in Rome. She has also taught ethics as a general subject to students from various faculties at the Universidad de los Andes. Dr Valenzuela regularly participates in scientific research conferences around the world under the auspices of the European Philosophical Society for the Study of Emotions (EPSSE), Societa Italiana di Psicologia Positiva (SIPP), European Network for Positive Psychology (ENPP), British Society for the History of Philosophy (BSHP), Slovene Philosophical Association (SFD), Network for Research on Morality (NRM), British Society for Phenomenology (BSP). As a member of the research group ''International Law and Religion'', she participated in the project ''Intellectual History of International Law: Religion and Empire'' at The Erik Castren Institute (University of Helsinki, Finland). Currently, she is a member of the research groups Human Flourishing and Magda Arnold's Scholars. Dr Valenzuela is an external referee for the scientific publications Frontiers in Psychology and Acta Philosophica. In the summer of 2016, she started working with the Faculty of Business in the International Cooperation Office. In the fall of 2016 she was elected as Teaching Assistant. In the Faculty of Law and Business, she is working on the courses Applied Ethics and Philosophy and Religion.
