Activities of the programme were focused to research and design of telecommunication technologies, components and integrated systems, as well as information society services and applications. The main results, important for science, were done primarily in the area of distributed systems, next generation networks and security architectures, services and mechanisms, and are as follows - Design and implementation of active network security architecture. The results were published in a journal with an SCI impact factor, in the book "Programmable Networks for IP Service Deployment", which was published by Artech House, and at several conferences. - Specification of a formal certificate policies model and development of a tool for automatic comparison and evaluation of the policies. The results were published in two scientific journals indexed in SCI. - Development of a framework for dynamical statistical estimation of users's responsiveness in the price-controlled best-effort QoS model. The results were published in a journal with an SCI impact factor - Development of a platform for exchange of learning resources. A multilingual service EducaNext is available at www.educanext.org, also in Slovene language. - Development of a protocol for adaptive autoconfiguration of active networks. - Research of privacy issues of smart spaces for learning. The first results were published in a journal indexed in SCI. - Specification of a security architecture for creation and deployment of end-user services in Premium IP networks. - Publishing of books "Advanced security technologies in networking" (IOS Press) and "Advanced Multimedia and Communication Security" (Kluwer). Our activities were mostly performed in the frame of EU projects from FP4 and FP5, e.g. FAIN, UNIVERSAL, ELENA, ICE-CAR, CADENUS or HYPERGEO.
