Methodology and the results of regional-geographical studies of Slovenia are very interesting in European as well as in world scale. The diversity of Slovenian landscapes and its features are unique and thus a few countries can compare with. Our country lies on a convergence point of four European basic types of landscapes (Alpine, Dinaric, Panonnian and Mediterranean) and on crossroad of historical, ethnological, language, religious, political and other influences of also four different cultural circles (Slavic, Germanic, Romanic and Hungarian). Thus a different and numerous types of natural and cultural landscapes developed on a very small area, reflecting the geographical characteristics of a certain area. The complexity of different natural and social factors is also reflected in natural and cultural heritage of our landscapes. Therefore the methodology of regional-geographical studies has to be especially exact, systematic and flexible and, according to that applicative and useful for foreign researchers and other countries. As many foreign geographers claim Slovenia is a genuine natural laboratory. Regional-geographical studies are offering a foundation for researches of related, mostly space oriented sciences and also for recognizing and solving some regional conflicts, regional planning, political decision making, general education etc. Regional geography encourages humaneness, respect and tolerance among the people in Slovenia as well as all over the world. That is an outstanding component of the programme of Regional geography of Slovenia.
