For geodesy Earth is an object which permanently changes its dimensions and design. The consequences of external and internal forces demand us to the treat this changes as a function of time. The selection of convenient measuring methods for the determination of displacements and deformations of a parts of the Earth surface and the choice of mathematical models for adjustment and the application of measuring results is based on the practical outcoming of these research activities. This activities were done in the framework of the research group Geodesy. Discoveries in the field of Geodesy and the acquired experiences are indispensable in the process of implementation of modern tehnology including GPS, state topographic mapping, cadastral and engineering surveys. The development of the models of deformation analyses, following the progress and study of the modern measuring techniques with the assurance and control of their quality, testing of different treatment and analyses models of measurements and the study of the impact of the observations were the main working activities of the research group. The geodetic methods for recent crustal movements including the model of adjustment were defined. The methods are generally used for the determination of the stability of the ground and also for the built-up objects. The results of testing of mathematical models in the frame of research activities (a posteriori weight determination, adjustment of combined nets, the deformation analyses etc.) give us the possibility to use this methods in the common practice.
