The results of the research contribute a new piece of knowledge in the field of comparative, general and classical linguistics. - In the field of comparative and general linguistics, the research findings on the properties and specific features of the Slovene language based on modern generative linguistic theory bring about a more extensive comprehension of universal properties of natural language, and of specific features of languages that are typologically similar to Slovene. - In classical linguistics, a new field of research is displayed by the application of discourse analysis methods. Namely, new findings can hardly be expected by the application of the classical philological approach in text analysis, which, by now, has been quite thoroughly exploited. The observation of functions and implicit contents along with an analysis of contextual factors provide for a new, practically inexhaustible, source of data. The research findings can contribute not only to a better knowledge of Ancient Greek, Latin, Hittite, Hebrew, etc. but can also promote understanding material and spiritual culture of the relevant time and peoples. - The comparative research of linguistic/communicative performance and accommodation in the language contact situations promotes the development of methodology of ethnolinguistic studies and provides for the extension of the linguistic research in multi- and interdisciplinary directions.
