In the filed of construction informatics / construction information technology the group establish itself as one of the leading European teams. Key achievements are: -theoretical foundations of CAD and product modeling, -definition and ontology of the filed "construction informatics", -a platform for the integration of internet based construction services and tools using XML protocols, -analysis of the achievements of construction informatics research in the 5th framework and road mapping of the future, -background study of open electronic publishing. Mechanics of structures: -a contribution in the field of numerical mechanics was made, that is becoming a fundamental part of construction computing and engineering. It is using numerical methods to assess, predict and simulate physical events and behavior of engineering systems that follow the laws of mechanics. As such it has a huge potential for future application and development. Knowledge transfer: -theoretical background of problem based learning in construction, -promotion of open electronic publishing an a technical platform for the hosting of open electronic scientific publications. -the editing and web hosting of international peer reviewed journal ITcon as well as a couple of engineering databases. -the organization of an international conference ECPPM 2002.
