Research activities of researchers, included into this researching group, put them in position to regularly participate in the international exchange of knowledge. They are recognised especially in the field of transitional economics. Slovenia is namely in the group of most developed transitional countries and has based its development mostly on successful restructuring of companies that were formerly in social ownership. This position of the country enables the researchers to transfer important accumulated knowledge on Slovenian transition into the wide body of literature on transitional economics. The head of research group, Professor Janez Prašnikar, Ph.D., is associated member of Centre of Policy Research (CEPR), London, and The William Davidson Institute by the University of Michigan (WDI). He is also a member of American Economic Association (Comparative Economics Section), International Economic Association and International Association for Economics Participation. Members of research group regularly take part with their research work on international conferences and are members of several international organisations connecting researchers from all over the world. Many members participate in the pedagogical process of Full-time Post-graduate Programme at the Faculty of Economics, Ljubljana. The programme has accepted wide international recognition in recent years. All this enables the members of the research group to participate in Organising committees of several International conferences: Prof. Prašnikar is co-organiser of the CEPR/WDI conference, Transition Economics, Portorož, 23-26. 6. 2001 and CEPR/WDI Workshop for young economists, Portorož, 27.6. - 5.7. 2001. Prof. Danijel Pučko and Prof Janez Prašnikar are members of organising committee of international conference Enterprise in Transition, organised every second year by the University of Split. Prof. Prašnikar is also a member of organising committee of the conference Economics of Development, organised by University of Sarajevo and a member of organising committee of the IAEP conference, organised every third year. International recognition of the older members of the research group enables many young researchers and teaching assistants to take part in high quality studies offered by international institutions.
