Research and development in the area of next generation networks and advanced services for those networks are crucial for every country that does not want to stay behind on the way to a developed information society. Results of our research and development activities were therefore closely connected with Slovene environment. This is evident from our cooperation with different Slovene institutions and implementation of the results in target user groups (e.g. commercial organisations or academic institutions) in Slovenia. We have transferred in local environment knowledge and technology that we produced in several EU projects from the 4. and 5. Framework Programme and in cooperation with partners such as Hitachi, Matra, Siemens, France Telecom, Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, etc. Our main results important for Slovenia are: - Establishment of Security Technology Competence Center (www.setcce.org); - Setting up of a platform for exchange of learning resources EducaNext (www.educanext.org) in Slovene language; - Upgrade of the Slovenian top-level EuroPKI public key certification authority SI-CA (www.si-ca.org), that is part of the European public key infrastructure EuroPKI; - Transfer of knowledge and technology from the area of information security and electronic commerce to Slovenian commercial, academic and governmental institutions, as well as implementation of e-services; organisation of workshops and seminars on e-commerce, e-education and internet services; - Publishing of the books "Elektronsko poslovanje na internetu", "Internet in pravo" and "Zakon o elektronskem poslovanju in elektronskem podpisu: s komentarjem".
