Research carried out in Slovenia is an important contribution to the knowledge of our natural heritage. Of special interest are fossilized annelids Marifugia from the Črnotiče quarry (the oldest known remains of a cave worm) and Toarcian radiolarians from Mt. Mangart (the first finding of Toarcian radiolarians in the Tethys, outside the Circum-Pacific belt). Eight coral species and one radiolarian species from Slovenian type localities were newly described.
