The research group within the programme is a unique multidisciplinary group in Slovenia that studies Slovene emigration included in wider migration movements. The group linked up on various themes with colleagues who are researching similar thematic at universities, in museums, libraries and archives. With our researches, we are filling up the deficiency of migration problematic researches, at universities for example. Significant was the connecting with fundamental branches, and introducing emigration thematic in their researches and pedagogical process. From a wider aspect, results within the frame of the research programme met with a wide response, particularly in the fields of schooling and culture, and in a large extent among Slovenes abroad as well. Close was cooperation with the state agencies; with various expert valuations we participated in forming the policy of The Republic of Slovenia to Slovenes abroad (let me mention the Urad za Slovence v zamejstvu in po svetu (Office for Slovenes abroad) of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, the parliament: Committee for relations with Slovenes abroad, etc.). Despite the mentioned, we are finding out that knowledge on Slovene emigration being a part of the Slovene community, nation and state, is still not sufficient, and many a time burdened with ideological, political and other prejudices, xenophobic stereotypes, myths, and similar. Consequently, we made every effort in mediating our research results to the wider public (exhibitions, lectures on radio and television, cooperation at round-tables and public platforms, in newspapers and elsewhere). We paid special attention to working with the young; we are cooperating with the Zavod Republike Slovenije za šolstvo, and least but not last, in the international project MIR (Migration and Intercultural Relations: Challenge for European Schools Today). Close was the cooperation with Slovenes in Italy where there is a better understanding for researching emigrant problematic.
