More than 70 SCI papers, that the group has published in the last 5 years, have increased its, and Slovenia's, reputation as an important or even leading group in the fields of medical image registration and shading correction, dynamics of complex systems, physics and models of the cardiovascular system, signal analysis of complex oscillating systems, organic and anorganic nanostructures, clinical biomechanics of the hip, and automatic visual inspection of products. We have designed and developed several high speed high quality, outside the scope of standard "of the shelf" machine vision systems, that are used by a number of companies for inspection of individual tablets and tablets in blisters, bearings, electric rings, electric power meters, paricles and activities of antibiotics. The computer system for analysis and preoperative planning of surgical interventions in the hip and for biomechanical analysis of different pathological states of the hip is currently used at different leading orthopaedic surgery and clinical biomechanics institutions around the world. Using the system, surgeons at the Orthopaedic Clinic in Ljubljana have considerably improved preoperative optimization of different surgical intereventions in the hip. Based on the results of our research, and in collaboration with the Department of Systems and Control at Jozef Stefan Institute, we have developed a new system for the acquisition of a variety of cardiovascular signals - Cardiosignals. The system is already in use for research purposes in Ljubljana and Lancaster.
