The central scope of our research is the Slovene region and the Slovenes in comparison with related European end global historical phenomena. The publication of original documents and the inventory of former local names, together with spatial integration enable new understandings and an expansion of research available for a wider circle of historians. Research on the economy, society, civilization, and everyday life attempt to reach as many beneficiaries as possible through publications, and to popularise knowledge of Slovene history within Slovenia and abroad. It tries to promote research on the Slovene past and the application of research results for contemporary use. Such research invigorates Slovene national self-confidence; it makes us conscious of Slovene originality, while also demonstrating our integration within Europe. Research on long-term historical processes, including the case of Slovenia, helps us to learn about and understand the phenomena of the modern world.
