Slovenia is in a desperate need regarding basic knowledge in medicinal chemistry. At this moment slovenian pharmaceutical firms focus their R&D on generic drugs what gives no oppurtunity for inovative basic research of new drugs, which bring much more added value to the country. Our results can certainly compete with the research of medium companies related to the research of antigene and antisense macromolecules and we believe that our results are well considered and a good foundation for further work. The emphasis is still considering the combination and synergistic effects of Pt(II) analogues of cisplatin including nucleoside ligands like ribavirin, penciclovir and famciclovir. A turn to the supramolecular chemistry is a logical outcome of our work. Nucleic acids are certainly the basic template for possible non-covalent itneractions. New using Cyclodextrins and Calix(4)arenes should furnish new nano-products and with bottom up aporoach, new nanotechnologies.
