First of all, the results contribute to systematically developed cooperation and clustering of companies and institutions on regional basis in the field of product development in terms of marketing, product requirements definition, product/process design, and production. The investigation of the up-to date information and communication technologies (LAN, Internet, data bases) and integrated engineering solutions CAD/CAPP/CAM/CAQ is elaborated as the basis for implementation and training in manufacturing companies. These results will enable improvement of performances of Slovene small and medium sized companies, which are not able to make this step alone due to the lack of knowledge and resources but need this improvement in order to be able to compete on the global market. Results of research are applicable for the introduction of concurrent product development into companies. It enables significant reduction of new product development time (over 50%). Reduction of time is achieved by concurrent activity execution inside concurrent engineering loops. The project management approach and use of concurrent product development signifies great competition advance on local and especially global markets. The result is also the development of the production planning and control system and the upgraded modules for monitoring and controlling. On the basis of the developed methodology for diagnosis of operations of production system, searching of bottleneck machines and finding hidden logistic potentials an optimization of material and information flow and also shortening of lead times can be done.
