Most important achievements of research programe for Slovenian construction practice are the results of testing possibilities for strengthening of reinforced concrete structures with reinforced plastics, testing of woodframe and woodpanel structures and research of self compacting concrete. For domain of cultural heritage protection is important research of possibilities for control of microclimatic conditions in order to decrease the decay of building fabrics especcialy due to raising damp. The effect of heaters (ducts with hot water or electric wires) laid under the surface of wall plasters is still under examination and the four year results are very promissing. Examination of efficiency of reinforced plastic reinforcement of existing reinforced concrete structures is important for forthcoming strengthening of bridge structures in Slovenia and other structures of kind in idustrial and residential areas. Research of woodframe and woodpanel structures and improvement of their earthquake resistance will enable producers from Slovenia to export wooden buildings to earthquake prone areas. Research of selfcompacting concrete will enable wider introduction of this modern material to Slovenian construction practice what will help in energy consumption reduction on building sites and provide more durable concrete products and structures. The overall success of researc in researc programm is governed by acessibility to research equipment, connections with researchers from other institutions in Slovenia and abroad and activation of young Slovenian researchers. New testing equipment was acquired using the founds made available by Ministry of Education, science and sport of RS and funds get from FP5 research contracts. A significant ammount of knowledge was gined from cooperation with researchers and engineers acting in networks as EUREKA and COST as well as from partners of five EU granted projects that were partly carried in Slovenia within this research group. The contribution of young Slovenian researchers was significant. In the 1999 to 2003 period four young researcher finshed M.Sc. study and three of them also Ph.D study. Only one continues research carrier within this research group. Two of them substatially reinforced research teams in Building and Civil Engineering Institute ZRMK and Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute ZAG. During the progress of research activities no major problems were observed. The research results are mostly applicable in current construction practice and helps in planning of further research in the next five year research period mainly oriented towards experimental research in eartquake engineering domain.
