Chemoreception: Our studies enabled the use of amino acid additives in the production of commercial food pellets used in fish farming. In addition the descriptions of the role of early learning in maturation of the olfactory system helped fish farmers to transfer young predatory fish from living food to industrial food pellets. In the past this procedure was used in our laboratory to enable the raising of the European huchen on industrial food pellets. Photoreception: A potentially important result is the method of dynamic difference reflection spectrophotometry. The algorithms developed are useful for spectral deconvolution of very different complex time/spectral signals. They can be the basis for a whole range of products for remote sensing applications ranging from medical diagnostics to ecological monitoring. The production of equipment incorporating these algorithms and technical solutions could contribute to creation of new workplaces in Slovenia. Honeybee: We determined ethanol concentrations that do not disturb normal honeybee behavior. Ethanol is a potential vehicle to intruduce additives into the honeybee food and through food into the final honey products. We developed production steps for honey combs containing red beet juice.
