The final result of research are methods for design of earthquake resistant structures and equipment and appropriate computer programs, which facilitate the practical application of the methods. Important result is also contribution to seismic regulations. The dissemination of the research results to practice is accomplished through standards, seminars, development projects, young researchers and students. The results will, in their final consequence, contribute to the design and construction of safer and more economical building structures. The most important application of research results is a contribution to the development of European standard for design of earthquake resistant structures Eurocode 8, which will be implemented also in Slovenia. The research results have enabled active participation in the development of Eurocode 8, fast implementation of various parts of Eurocode 8 (Slovenia was the first state, which officially implemented Eurocode 8), and training of practitioners and students. Further contributions are applications in the field of seismic isolation, which include also the development of new devices for seismic isolation and the implementation of seismic isolation of viaducts in Slovenia, conceptual design for seismic strengthening of several high-risk highway viaducts, indices, which facilitate the choice of the proper seismic analysis method, development of new methods and computer codes for structural walls, which are the most common structural system for buildings in Slovenia, review of several projects within the modernization of the Krško NPP (related to seismic resistance), determination of typical seismic ground motion characteristics in Slovenia, seismic hazard analysis for the site of the Krško NPP, determination of seismic design parameters for several viaducts, organisation of two seminars for practitioners on New Developments in Earthquake Engineering with more than 100 participants, modernization of teaching of structural design (distance learning), training of Slovenian and foreign young researchers, and lecturing at the undergraduate and graduate level.
