The dialectological studies are important for both the development of Slovene dialectology as such and the forming of a basis for the shaping (preserving) of ones national identity. Studying the history of a standard language from the sociolinguistic viewpoint and accounting for its dialectal structuring have substantiated the patterns of the emergence of regional language varieties all aiming at one common language - core. Linguistic theory has made it a task at the level of phenomena in terms of the dialect and the standard in phonetics, morphology and syntax to produce dialect dictionaries. The study of Slovene history of literature is also of vital importance for the recognition and maintenance of national identity originating from the cultural heritage of the Slovene nation in a territory which was in the historical development the key steadfast point of the Slovene national existence. The research of the literatures in English and German are geared toward the search connections between the Slovene literature and the literary creations of Central Europe. The results showed the directions and forms of interaction between the literary traditions in the European literary space. Receptional studies have shown on the one hand typically Slovene characteristics of perception and experience of modern European literature and on the other hand with the reader's horizon of expectations conditioned characteristics of individual literary textual meanings which emerge with each realisation of the dialogue between the individual and the literary text.
