Some descriptive key results: - the most important point is the involvement of the research group in high school teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level esp. with significant impact in the microbiology and biotechnology programmes leading to numerous Diploma, Master and Doctoral theses; - being in lead at the mastering of the laboratory work with anaerobic microorganisms in Slovenia and where the group is not second to any group abroad in expertise and equipment and so represents a precious national infrastructure; - we succeed for years to keep a very fruitful international cooperation with laboratories at Rowett Research Institute in Aberdeen (Scotland), with the Institute of microbial ecology at the Czech Academy of Science in Prague and recently with the Laboratory for animal nutrition at the Agricultural graduate school of Hokkaido University in Japan. - we still have an ongoing good contact with five research groups of the former COST 98 project (ended 2000), where we are discussing possible future entry into the 6th EU Framework Programme; - perceivable is an interinstitutional link of our group with groups at other campuses of the University Ljubljana and at some Slovenian public research institutes (like NIB, KI, IJS); - along permanent communication of research results to the international scene in refereed highly ranked scientific journals, we try to present our results also via public media (TV, radio, daily newspapers) and at scientific and professional conferences and congresses at home and abroad.
