The basic physics research program was conducted in a close cooperation with research groups at the Institute Jozef Stefan. This cooperation covered the most important fields of modern physics research in the areas of particle, atomic, solid state, soft matter and mathematical physics. The research was conducted at the faculty and thus significantly contributed to the quality of undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Good basic physics research is a foundation for high education quality of young professionals. They are crucial for successful implementation of advanced technologies to Slovene economy. Many young people finished their studies within the research program in the years 1999 to 2003 among them 35 diploma, 2 master, and 21 doctoral students. Sixteen people who finished PhD studies were part of the young scientists program.
