CAMTP is promoting natural sciences and mathematics in Slovenia, also the computer science, especially linux software and environment, and in this way contributes to the development of our own scientific and expert personnel which is a basic condition for the further technological and sustainable development of Slovenia, together with the cultural development. This process is running on the level of scientific, educational and expert levels, as well as on the level of the popular science and university education, as CAMTP is involved in the undergraduate and graduate study programmes at the University of Maribor and at the Institute Jozef Stefan in Ljubljana (International Graduate School). CAMTP contributes through its international activities in an essential way to the promotion of Slovenia in the worldwide context, as an ambassador, in science, and it assists domestic researchers in establishing contacts to the centers of excellence in scientific research worldwide. In this scientific cultural promotion, perhaps, the most important element are the international summer schools and conferences Let's Face Chaos through Nonlinear Dynamics, which are held at CAMTP, University of Maribor, every three years, namely in 1996, 1999 and 2002, and the next one will be in 2005. CAMTP also educates young researchers in the field of its scientific research activity, under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Marko Robnik. So far there were 4 diploma works, 1 MS thesis work, and two PhD thesis works. One of them (Dr. Tomaz Prosen) was awarded the Jozef Stefan Golden Medal in 1998 for the thesis work of 1995. The third doctoral thesis work is in preparation. All thesis works were published in respectable international scientific journals, and most of them are the basis of several scientific papers. CAMTP also is a copublishing institution of the international scientific journal Nonlinear Phenomena in Complex Systems (Minsk), and hosts the electronic version of this journal.
