During the First World War, the lack of food became a burning issue in many European towns. Everyday urban spaces were transformed into important points of destabilization and resistance as well as political venues in which, as consumers and housewives, women importantly participated. By using a variety of sources, especially court records, and by applying the concept of “moral economy” this paper analyzes how the women of Trieste, in particular by participating in riots, demonstrations and other smaller illegal actions related to food, fought against war shortages. The lack of food during the First World War was caused by several complex factors. Women from various European towns blamed different inducers for their plight: we will be interested in whom the women of Trieste perceived as the main enemy and how often, according to different agents, they themselves, as participants of riots and demonstrations or as price increasers, played the role of the 'enemy from within'.

Paper analyses the flourishing of commemorations connected with the TIGR-organization after 1991. It observes, that remembering is as a collusion among different visions of the past, “from below” and “from above”, from the “left” and from the “right”. The initiative to awake the memory of TIGR originated in the civil society (Society TIGR Primorske), but it came at a time when it was beneficial for Slovenian politics. At the same time, highlighting untold past was met with a positive response from part of Slovenian public, which had experience with this movement and memories of it; this part of the public regarded the neglect of TIGR as a historical injustice. The Society has managed to take its place alongside the Zveza borcev (Association of Combatants) and has actively sought to establish new commemorative ceremonies. It has erected monuments and memorials, published a lot of memoires and historical books, etc. Thus, the conditions have been established to ensure that the movement obtained mythological features.

The article deals with anti-fascist operations in the Idrija-Cerkno region between 1927 and 1931. It is primarily focused on the testimonies of some of the lesser-known members of Gorizia section of TIGR, particularly those of Srečko Logar. His case-study serves to analyse the state violence through police and judicial apparatus. Multiple hearings, imprisonment, censorship and restriction of postal correspondence, police surveillance of family members during the investigation and after his release from prison are just some of the forms of state violence, which Srečko Logar has experienced. Similar forms of violence have also been, to a greater or lesser extent, experienced by other political prisoners from Venezia Giulia.
