We have described binding of Nep1-like cytolysins to plant plasma membranes. Nep1-like cytolysins recognise particular class of plant sphingolipids, glycosylionositol phosphoceramides, GIPCs. These lipids have different structure in monocots in comparison to dicots and, therefore, this allows unusual specificity against particular plant type.

In this review paper we have described different methods for studying protein-protein interactions and interactions of proteins with other molecules. Some of the approaches, i.e. surface plasmon resonance, microscale thermophoresis, calorimetry, were used in the project for description of NLPs-lipid membrane interactions or interactions of NLPs with small molecules that represent parts of headgroups of plant lipids.
