Innovativeness in companies in the tourism sector can reasonably be considered to be one of the most important factors of performance. This paper highlights the importance of two determinants of tourism firms’ innovativeness – namely, market and entrepreneurial orientation – focusing on the tourism sector. A conceptual model was developed and empirically tested based on 91 Slovenian tourism SMEs.

A study conducted on innovation in Slovenian tourism organisations with different legal structures is presented. Their innovation performance and the climate of innovation in their area of business were analyzed. The main findings of the study indicate a lack of research on innovation in Slovenian tourism organisations. The contribution of the research is that it has applied the generic instrument for measuring innovation climate on tourism and the first time climate is measured in Slovenia.

This paper is dedicated to the present the restaurant assessment system, which can be useful for assessing the restaurant quality in the rural environment. First are presented different approaches of the restaurant assessment, and then the survey of restaurants quality in the central Slovenian region. The survey covered 64 urban and 26 rural restaurants. The results show that there are not statistically significant differences of quality in urban and rural restaurants.
