On the conference we showed our investigation of Diels-Alder (DA) and retro Diels-Alder (rDA) reaction between N-phenylmaleimide and furan containing benzoxazine. The temperature range of DA and rDA reaction was determined from the exothermic and endothermic signal derived from DSC analysis. Furthermore, with the help of 1H NMR analysis the ratio between exo and endo product and its changing with the temperature was determined.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1536436675On the conference the investigation of polymerization kinetics of benzoxazine synthesized from bio-based guaiacol, furfurylamine and formaldehyde was shown. The sample was cured in DSC under non-isothermal conditions. Curing of guaiacol based benzoxazine showed complex polymerization behaviour, since the exothermal signal of the curing consisted of at least two overlapped peaks. In order to differentiate and study each overlapped peak, peaks fitting and deconvolution was performed using the Pearson VII distribution. The results of the kinetic analysis showed that the first peak at lower temperature could be associated to the autocatalytic nature of benzoxazine resin and was fitted with Šesták–Berggren autocatalytic equation. Deconvoluted peak at higher temperature showed typical n-th order of the reaction. The appropriate kinetic parameters describing both exothermic signals were derived by applying mathematical modeling.
