Main Purpose: Interinstitutional cooperation at the regional and transregional level with the intention to create a space for reflection in the field of humanities and culture. In an interaction with them, it is possible to explore the humanizing possibilities in a global perspective. Special attention will be dedicated to: historical and contemporary dimensions of humanism; importance of multilingualism, inter- and transculturality; relationship in relation to individual freedom and social justice; interconnection of nature and culture in the scientific-technical world; preservation and strengthening of the principles of human rights in today’s world.

It seems, however, that techno-scientific and economic development has pushed the humanities to the margins of social life and that this sort of development has undermined the humanities’ central role in education, culture, and research. The more today’s developed world has to deal with ever more complex economic and political crises, the more we become aware that the assumption and creation of a common world informed by humanistic values is necessary – while at the same time acknowledging all the differences that pertain to each and every individual. Only when we speak about different identities, modes of thinking, histories, languages, religions, and economic and political environments do we become fully aware of the breadth and depth of humanistic knowledge that opens up our thinking towards the future. The journal Phainomena was the first specialized journal for the phenomenological and hermeneutic philosophy in Middle and East Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Its main role is still to get together philosophers from this geographical area, and at the same time, in collaboration with the philosophers from North and South America, East and South Asia, Japan and China as well as Africa, open up global perspectives of the phenomenological and hermeneutic philosophy. The articles and translations published in the journal are mostly those from the fields of phenomenology, hermeneutics, social hermeneutics, philosophy of religion, theory of science, philosophy of art, history of philosophy and philosophy of culture.

COBISS.SI-ID: 29705216The basic aim of the journals ANNALES are to publish scientific historical and social works (mainly dealing with multicultural and multiethnic relations) and natural science works (primarily dealing with nature conservation, ecology and biology) all of them covering the regions of Mediterranean areas of Slovenia. On the basis of multi- and inter-disciplinary as well as comparative studies the journal is further linked with the contents in the macroregional sphere of the Mediterranean countries. It covers rather deficitive field in Slovenian scientific and professional journalism, part of common Slovenian cultural region (also national minority living in Italy) and therefore contributes to the development and preservation of Slovene national and cultural identity and actively contributes to the exchange of scientific and professional achievements within Europe and the world.
