Development of program Pajek begun in 1996 when Andrej Mrvar started his work on Ph.D. thesis on analysis and visualization of large networks at Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University Ljubljana (advisor prof. dr. Vladimir Batagelj). Although Pajek has been developed now for twenty years, it is still the only general program available for free that can handle huge networks (networks having up to several billions of vertices; there is no limit – except the memory size - on the number of lines). Pajek is now used by several universities (e.g. University of Oxford, University of California at Irvine, San Diego, Amsterdam) and companies (e.g. Deutsche Bundesbank, Volkswagen AG, SPSS Korea, Bank of England, Cisco, Basel Bank for International Settlements, Kansas City Missouri Police Department, Indianapolis Police Department). Pajek is cited (Feburary, 2017) more than 2800 times in Web of Science and more than 7000 times in Google Scholar. Pajek was the winner of the William D. Richards Jr., Software Award in 2013. Because of such a wide usage of the program the need for a monograph describing ‘How to do network analysis with Pajek?’ became inevitable. The monograph: Wouter de Nooy, Andrej Mrvar, and Vladimir Batagelj: Exploratory Social Network Analysis with Pajek was published by Cambridge University Press in two editions. The monograph was translated to Japanese and to Chinese (in two editions).

COBISS.SI-ID: 33959005Bojan Korenini was developing software named CLAD, which is intended for use in Consistent Laddering research technique. The initial version of this software has been developed within Bojan Korenini’s doctoral thesis (advisor prof. dr. Anuška Ferligoj) in which consistent laddering has been introduced. This research technique enables elicitation of personal constructs, which are distinguishing dimensions employed by an individual in connection to investigated topic of the interview, establishing how investigated elements (eg. people, objects, ideas) are perceived on these dimensions, and how the elicited constructs relate to each other, as the interviewee sees it. In this way, a hierarchically organized valued network of constructs is established in a Consistent Laddering interview. CLAD is used in these interviews to store the obtained data and visualize them as a network of constructs. During the interview this software also calculates various measures of inconsistency which help the interviewer to focus on specific parts of the established network and poses additional questions to the interviewee. In this way, CLAD contributes to increased validity in Consistent Laddering research. CLAD is available free of charge and can be accessed at the Internet address http://clad.korenini.net.

COBISS.SI-ID: 33837661Anuška Ferligoj organized the first meeting of the COST Action project COSTNET (statistical network analysis) in Ribno in September, 21 - 23, 2016. At the meeting 71 researchers in the field of statistical network analysis from most of the European countries participated. At the meeting 28 talks were given.

The award that was received by assoc.prof.dr.Gregor Petrič for his outstanding scientific achievements in the field of social informatics and internet studies, presents an important socio-economic outcome. His research achievements on general level importantly contribute to the visibility and recognition of social informatics as a discipline that brings important findings regarding the impact of internet and mobile technologies on social relations, community and individiual. On more specific level numerous papers in highly rated scientific journals reveal important role of online health and online support communities for their users and social system in sense that they deliver improtant impliciations of such internet technologies for (Slovenian) field of health and social policies.
