COBISS.SI-ID: 10498889The monograph was published in the book series "Higher Education Research and Policy" (HERP 8), published by P. Lang; P. Zgaga is its editor in chief with three co-editors (two from Germany and one from Canada). The book series publishes fundamental studies on higher education and higher education policies. The central focus of this monograph is the concept of higher education reform in the light of an international and global comparative perspective. After decades of far-reaching reform, higher education around the world has profoundly changed and now has to face the challenges of the present. This volume takes a close look at these changes, the drivers of change, their effects and possible future scenarios. In their contributions the authors discuss a variety of basic concepts: learning and teaching in higher education; financing and quality assurance; governance change; massification vs. equity and equality; internationalization and mobility, the implementation of lifelong structures in higher education. One of the book's reviewers assessed as follows: “Higher Education Reform is a fine example of critical and creative thinking about higher education. It has much to offer to scholars, policy makers and university leaders.” (Simon Marginson, University College London)

COBISS.SI-ID: 10755913Development and improvement of first-person methodological tools being one of important missions of our research programme, we developed a technique of acquiring phenomenal data, based on modified version of descriptive experience sampling (DES) and supported by application for the mobile platform iOS. From 2013 on the application (called U-experience) was tested on various research problems. In 2015, the free public access to the application was enabled via the iTunes platform. The application enables construction of research programme, designed specifically for the actual research design. The programme is automatically transferred to users' mobile units and enables real-time collection of phenomenal data. The application is intended for a broad spectrum of phenomenological research and is at the same time useful as an individual tool for introspective mapping of user’s experiential landscape. - At the moment, a number of similar applications can be found on the market, most of them additionally providing the analysis of the gathered data. Comparatively, we believe that our application has a good competitive potential. With the addition of web portal and analysis package, U-experience would have some important advantages to the existing solutions.

The Journal of Education Policy publishes original, critically and theoretically informed research that discusses, analyses and debates policymaking, policy implementation and the impact of policy at all levels and in all facets of formal and informal education. The journal is interested in analysis and theorisation of policy that is transposable, that has generic interest and relevance - national policy case studies would need to be conceptually and/or methodologically generalisable. The journal also publishes work that presents new methods of research and research studies that are experimental and innovative. The journal offers a forum for theoretical debate, as well as historical, philosophical and comparative studies, across different countries, contexts and levels of education. Included in the SSCI® 2014 Impact Factor 1.318 – Pavel Zgaga is representative for Central and South-Eastern Europe and participates in the reviewing of articles.

Using the RNA (Rapid Needs Assessment) research metodology an outreach research was done entitled "The visible and disruptive street homelessness in the area of the center of Ljubljana". Contacts were established with about 75 homeless people who spend their days in the streets of Ljubljana and engage in behaviours which might bother and frighten the passenegers walking by. Based on outreach work and focus groups with professionals working in the field nine recommendations were formed of which the first two are: increase the availability of customized and very low threshold accommodation options and develop and implement more proactive, assertive, systematic and continuous fieldwork. These recommendations have been already implemented in 2016 in the framework of a new model of assertive street work.
