The aim of the study was to determine how students regulate their learning in music theory (MT), with the use of the socio-cognitive theory of learning. The study developed the instruments for measuring (meta)cognitive and affective-motivational processes in learning MT. The findings, which showed a correlations between (meta)cognitive and affective-motivational factors, are important for teaching MT in music schools. The paper was selected by the Scientific Council of the Slovene Research Agency as one of three the best research papers in the field of education in 2011. COBISS.SI-ID: 45070178The book represents an attempt to systemize psychological knowledge about literacy through theory and research and to present research results in this field, especially the results of the author. Even though literacy is one of the basic goals of formal education which overlaps with different professions (linguistic, sociological, psychological, pedagogical, etc.), systematic scientific research of this phenomenon is relatively rare in Slovenia, especially in psychology. The book tries to at least partially fill in this gap and systematically work through psychological, especially cognitive psychological, aspects of the literacy phenomenon. The results of research work of the author have been presented to professional audience on professional conferences, seminars (for teachers at more than 50 schools), in television and radio shows.
