The exodus of women to work in other European countries as well as in various overseas states has been recorded in Slovenian history. Departures for work reasons, which occurred in the period before the First World War, to Croatia's contemporary industrial centers (Zagreb, Rijeka, Split, Osijek), were initially of lower intensity. Migrations were mainly existential in nature and occurred in the period between the two world wars. Girls and women arrived to the area of today's Croatia either as dependent family members – mothers, wives, and daughters, or as poor workers – unskilled labor. This paper presents current knowledge about the life and activities of girls and women from Slovenian regions who sought work in today's Croatian territory. Examples will be given of their self-organzation and of the operation of Slovenian female societies in Zagreb between the two world wars.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12758605The second International Regional Conference “Inclusion and integration in diverse societies: Strategies and experiences of diversity management in Central and South-Eastern Europe - The refugee crisis in 2015 and challenges of migrations”, co-organized by the Institute for Ethnic Studies and Friedrich Ebert Foundation gathered more than 30 participants from the countries of Central and SE Europe. The participants discussed the impact of the increased mobility on the demography and population of states, particularly considering the impact of the migration and refugee crisis of 2015 on public opinion and migration policies of states. They payed special attention to the regulation and management of migration and improved equal inclusion and integration of minorities and migrants, including refugees into plural and diverse societies. Scholars and experts, public opinion leaders, trade union and civic society activists discussed the above topics in inclusive, holistic and comprehensive way and formulated proposals and recommendations for the improvement of the situation and development of relevant policies. The success of the conferences so far contributed to the decision of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation to finance at least the series of five conferences and in the future to establish the international regional conferences as one of their regular annual activities.
B.01 Organiser of a scientific meeting
COBISS.SI-ID: 13328461The Handbook for Roma Councillors is a selection of materials intended to help the Roma councillors meet the obligations assumed after being elected representatives of the Roma ethnic minority within a specific municipality. As in the case of the Italian and Hungarian national communities, the office of a Roma councillor serves to exercise what are known as ‘special’ minority rights. In order to help the Roma councillors fill the gap between the position achieved by the members of the Italian and Hungarian national communities on one side and that of the Roma ethnic minority on the other, the Handbook is designed in a manner such that after reading the documents (laws, reports, etc.) relating to status of the Italian and Hungarian national communities, a logical question arises: Where are the Roma? Thus, the Handbook explicitly presents the set of tasks to be (at least ideally) pursued by the Roma councillors.
