Members of the research team, together with researchers of 12 partners institutions and national reporters, are analysing the novelties of the Brussels regulation no. 1215/2012 recast, which represent a step forward towards simplification and expedition of cross-border enforcement of debts. The project (no. JUST/2014/JCOO/AG/CIVI/7749) is being carried out in the frame of the programme Civil justice and is financed by the European Commission. With the abolishment of the exequatur, the issue of remedies in both the Member State of origin and the Member State of enforcement is gaining new importance. The results have been presented at the international conference Cross-border legal aspects of doing business 2016. Special attention is also given to a provisional measures and the issue of the implementation of the revised provisions of the Brussels Regulation in the national MS systems, which vary significantly.

On 22.12.2016 the Faculty of the University of Maribor, organised a round table on platform economy with distinguished guests. Round table represented one of the first events in Slovenia on the topic of regulation of platform economy, predominantly of collaborative economy, which gives a special acceleration upon information technology, perhaps in part due to the recent economic crisis, which has encouraged consumption, based on access, where business models, in which consumers gain time with a product and are willing to pay for the use of the product, without necessarily owning it – either because they can not afford the product ownership or because they are limited by space, or because they want to contribute in this way to protect the scarce natural resources. The book is a collection of contributions presented at the 24th traditional conference Corporate Entities at the Market and European Dimensions, which was organised from 19th to 21st May 2016 in Portorož, Slovenija, by Institute for Commercial Law Maribor and Faculty of Law, University of Maribor. The added value of the conference were international sessions, which brought together in a discussion on certain open questions in the field of cross-border disputes, related to the implementation of Brussels I Regulation (recast) internationally renown experts from Slovenia, other EU Member States and even the US. Focusing on national rules, and using a comparative method which takes into consideration legal experiences from all legal circles in the EU, this book explains and analyses how the law of evidence works in Europe today. The authors on the basis of analyse twenty-seven national reports present the most important issues: judicial cooperation in cross-border cases; judges’ case management powers regarding evidence; means of evidence; extent of influence of traditional principles and evidentiary rules on electronic evidence; application of communication technology in cross-border proceedings; legal costs; language; inadmissible evidence.

The journal is co-published by Faculty of Medicine (Slovenia), Karl Franzens University, Faculty of Law (Austria), Institute of Social Sciences, Belgrade (Serbia), University of Split, Faculty of Medicine (Croatia) and University Portucalense Infante D. Henrique, Faculty of Law (Portugal). This is the first interdisciplinary journal, which combines law and medicine. The magazine is the result of traditional events Medicine and Law, which is organized every year by the members of the program team in collaboration with medical association.
