Physical asset management is area with growing role in asset intensive industry, especially from the release of standards in this field (ISO 55001:2014 and EN 16646:2014). It also plays an important role within the Industry 4.0. Scientific and practical knowledge of the authors’ researches in this field represents an important contribution at the national and international level. Members of the research programme are one of the co-founders of the working group for asset management (it was established within the Slovenian Maintenance Society in 2016). The Faculty of Organizational Sciences is one of the co-founding institutions of the technical committee SIST/TC VZD Maintenance and asset management, established within Slovenian institute for standardization in 2017. As such, the participation of the research program members in the establishment of the aforementioned working group and technical committee represents an important contribution of the program in the field of the economy.

COBISS.SI-ID: 7901459This study assesses the effects of manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems integration in the case of a medium-sized enterprise in the automotive supply chain. An embedded interface was developed to provide bidirectional exchange of messages between the two corresponding databases. Data exchange between the two separate systems is facilitated by an intermediate document (IDoc) message. The effects of MES–ERP integration were assessed based on the value reference model (VRM), which ensures measurable indicators in multiple dimensions. Velocity, costs and assets for two processes were evaluated before and after integration. Positive changes in the selected key performance indicators were measured and confirmed. MES–ERP integration ensures controlled change management in the supply chain (SC) and enables decision-making to be carried out in real time. Based on the findings of the presented scenario, one can reasonably assume that MES–ERP integration positively affects the selected key performance indicators of a SC.

COBISS.SI-ID: 7982867B2B sales forecasting is interesting for various reasons: effective support of the process, knowledge management (usually data are derived from the internal data bases, i.e. from CRM), identification of information, important for decision-making, and involving users in development and implementation of such systems in order to build trust and acceptance of decision support systems, machine learning models, business intelligence, which is still scarce in practice. The process of sales forecasting is based on the historical data (internal and external), formalized rules, subjective judgements, and organizational knowledge. Research was aimed at decreasing the sales forecast error by implementation of predictive models coupled with visual explanation methods. Predictive models were developed and tested in the company environment, in collaboration with users, the proposed methodology was used for 16 months in paralel with traditional forecasting method of the company. We showed that the implemented methodology contribute to: 1) decreasing of the forecasting error, 2) dsicussion between the team members, who, based on new insights identified important elements of the sales forecasting process. User involvement contributed to better trust and acceptance of the solutions.

COBISS.SI-ID: 7950611The purpose of our study was to describe the principles of the development of parallel system-dynamics and agent-based models of organic farming for the case of Slovenia. The advantage of agent-based modeling was demonstrated by including geospatial information as an agent attribute. The models were compared by the validation, confirming the appropriate level of similarity. Statistical methods were used in the validation. Introducing additional attributes into the agent-based model provides an important advantage over the system-dynamics model, which serves as the paradigmatic example. A thorough validation and comparison of the results of the system-dynamics and agent-based models indicates the proper approach to combining the methodologies. Proposed approach is promising, because it enables the modeling of the entire agricultural sector, taking each particular farm into account. Developed approach will enable better decision making on the strategic level at the development of organic farming sector.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4343084Cloud computing is bringing several opportunities for more effective and efficient IT governance and service exploitation. Market data show that despite many advantages and promised benefits the adoption of cloud computing is not as fast and widespread as foreseen. This situation stimulated further exploration of the potentials of cloud computing and its implementation on the market. For that purpose, we focused our research to business models of cloud computing providers from the perspective of users. The study was done among 80 companies and five major cloud computing providers in Slovenia. We have identified business models factors with the highest impact on cloud computing adoption. In addition, the research results revealed statistically significant differences in opinions on the importance of cloud computing business model factors according to users' previous experiences with cloud computing services. The results provide orientation for redesign or innovation of existing business models towards the design of customer-oriented business model for more successful exploitation of cloud computing services and business opportunities. For potential users, the findings represent guidelines for the successful adoption of cloud computing services.
