The project deals with the nautical and structural sustainability of the new mooring berth planned for the reception of the largest Ro-Ro vessels in the third basin of the Port of Koper. Using full mission simulation methods in real time an alternative or additional dual-mooring berth in the middle of the third basin (inline of the multipurpose - VNT berth) was also analysed. By ensuring the safe berthing of large Ro-Ro ships, the Port of Koper will maintain its economic benefits and its leading position in the region

COBISS.SI-ID: 2640739Large amounts of various cargo are shipped through Slovenian waters. More than 5000 vessels yearly call at the ports of Koper, Trieste and Monfalcone, while moderate fishing activity also occurs in the bay of Trieste. This semi-enclosed and shallow area is also an attractive tourist location abundant in historical and cultural heritage. To enhance vessel traffic monitoring and improve safety at sea, new solid state digital radars, four AIS base stations, three day/night PTZ CCTV cameras are integrated together with three metocean stations (introduced by FPP research staff). Additionally, DGPS correction and METOCEAN data are broadcast through the AIS system. The Slovenian Maritime Administration is now operating the high-end VTS system, ensuring safe ship traffic control in its operational area in the northern Adriatic Sea
