COBISS.SI-ID: 7459169The members of the programme group have been organizing the National Competition in Structural Mechanics for years with its main purpose to spread our knowledge and experiences of research work among secondary school pupils. In 2018 the 24th competition will be organized. The competition increases the popularity of the field of structural mechanics. We are proud on the excellent response from pupils and their mentors.

COBISS.SI-ID: 289380608Among several lectures of the members of the programme group at foreign universities let us describe only one which is a result of successful cooperation with University of Boras, Sweden. Assoc. prof. Tomaž Hozajn visited University of Borasu, Faculty of textiles, engineering and business and had lectures in fire engineering and fire design in total of 20 hours in the class Structural Engineering III (bachelor level, 7.5 ECTS). Members of the had lectures on several other foreign universities, e.g., College of Engineering Swansea University, The University of Queensland, Technical University of Ostrava. They also had invited lectures at conferences, organized by ECCOMAS.

COBISS.SI-ID: 8341089In 2016 and 2017 programme group members Dejan Zupan and Tomaž Hozjan served as editors of the Proceedings of Congress of Slovenian Society of Mechanics. The goal of these annual proceedings is to present the achievements of Slovenian researchers working in the field of mechanics.

COBISS.SI-ID: 291722240The work of the programme group is recognized among scientific conference organizers. Dejan Zupan was invited to present the original approach developed at our research group where the strains are assumed to be interpolated variables of the beam element. In contrast to traditional displacement-rotation based approaches the additive-type of interpolation can be used without any restrictions. Another important characteristic of our approach is that the determination of internal forces and moments does not require the differentiation which increases the accuracy of stress field. This is of utmost importance when dealing with materially non-linear problems.
