COBISS.SI-ID: 16301083Edvard Govekar, a member of the group, actively participated in establishing the SiEVA 3D Printing Laboratory, which was established at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in cooperation with nine leading Slovenian companies (development suppliers of automotive components). The established laboratory represents a new approach to the integration of Slovenian industry and research institutions, with the aim of introducing complementary technologies to Slovenian industry and in the educational programs of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. In the framework of the opening, an invited lecture was presented.

COBISS.SI-ID: 16376091An additive-manufacturing head is used to perform additive manufacturing by feeding a material to a workpiece and irradiating the workpiece with a laser beam. The additive-manufacturing head includes: a ring-shape laser-beam forming unit configured to form a laser beam in a ring shape; a laser-beam emitting unit configured to emit the ring-shape laser beam towards the workpiece; and a material feeding unit having an outlet that is disposed inside the ring-shape laser beam emitted from the laser-beam emitting unit and from which the material is released, and configured to feed the material from the outlet towards the workpiece. The head, configured in this manner, can improve the material-usage efficiency for the directed energy deposition method.

COBISS.SI-ID: 15898395A system for short-term natural-gas consumption forecasting with a forecasting horizon of h = 1,2,...,48 hours was developed for the company Energetika Ljubljana, d.o.o.. The system was designed as an extension of the existing forecasting system into near forecasting horizons (1–24 hours). The system has been installed on the server of the company and generates daily forecasts for the next 48 hours of natural-gas consumption based on past consumption, weather forecasts, and population dynamics. The forecasts delivered by the system are, in the company Energetika Ljubljana, d.o.o., the basis for the optimization of the entire system of natural-gas distribution and district heating. In addition to the aforementioned system, in cooperation with the company GORENJE Orodjarna, the research group developed the "Bearing Quality Test System" for which the Silver Award was awarded at the Forma Tool 2013 in Celje. In cooperation with the company GORENJE, a "System for the diagnosis of compressors installed in refrigerating freezers " was developed, which is intended for automated testing of the quality of products in the company’s production.
