Members of the programme group are the main organizers of the series of the visual object tracking challenges and workshops (www.votchallenge.net). In 2015 we orgnized the thrid visual object tracking challenge and workshop VOT2015 in cojnunction with the ICCV2015. In addition to the visual-light challenge we introduced the infra-red tracking challenge as well. The challenge evaluated over sixty trackers and results have been published in a joint paper coauthored by all participants. The VOT2015 results paper alone contains over 120 co-authors. The VOT workshop was a great success with attendance exceeding seventy participants.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1536653507The members of the program team organized the international conference FG 2015 (11th IEEE International Conference on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition; http://www.fg2015.org), in the following roles: Aleš Leonardis (General Chair), Matej Kristan (Evaluation Chair), Danijel Skočaj (Publication Chair), Luka Čehovin (Web chair). The conference took place in Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana between 4th and 8th of May. The conference is the premier international forum for research in image and video-based face, gesture, and body movement recognition. It is a very established conference with a long tradition; since 1995 it is organized biannually. It attracts the most established researchers from the fields of image and video analysis for face, gestures, and gait recognition; in FG 2015 there were 219 registered participants. Its broad scope includes advances in computer vision, pattern recognition, computer graphics, and machine learning. By organizing this event, the members of the program team strengthen their position in the international research community and increased the visibility of the Slovenian research and organizational potentials and skills. The conference also had very good media coverage that contributed to the dissemination of our research to the general public in Slovenia.

COBISS.SI-ID: 11014740Researchers from our program frequently serve as expert witnesses in biometric image interpretation. Before an automated face recognition system can be applied on a typical surveillance video, images must be enhanced using various image-processing methods or enriched by using computer vision 3D reconstruction methods. Authenticity of video material must also sometimes be verified. If face recognition is not possible or successful then other so biometric characteristics can be checked. A legal expert witness for image biometry must be able to employ a large array of image processing and computer vision tools and methods. The expert witness must be able to explain how the biometric results were obtained, what the necessary steps were, and how confident the final results are.
