COBISS.SI-ID: 88747521The work is concerned about the system of automatic detecting of wear and damages of the tool in CNC machine tool by the use of computer vision. By using the algorithms developed for image segmentation and by an innovative approach to extraction of features describing individual end mill tool tooth the information representing significant features of the individual tool tooth is effectively gained from the captured image. The proposed approach to feature extraction is robust and independent of the scale and rotation of the end mill tool in the image. The features vectors have been classified by artificial neural network. Developed system has been tested by the test base of tool images. The classification being validated by 10-fold cross-validation method. Results have confirmed that the proposed approach can improve monitoring of tool wear and damages and, consequently, the effectiveness and reliability of CNC milling machine tool.

COBISS.SI-ID: 19623958In December 2015, the journal "Advances in Production Engineering & Management"-Editor-in-chief Miran Brezočnik (published by the Production Engineering Institute, University of Maribor, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering) was included in the WEB OF SCIENCE scientific citation indexing service maintained by Thomson Reuters. Our journal is indexed and abstracted in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Journal Citation Reports (JCR) – Science Edition, and Current Contents (CC) – Engineering, Computing and Technology. The journal has received its first impact factor calculated by Thomson Reuters in June 2016. The impact factor is 1.125 (Journal Citation Reports 2016, year 2015). The journal is also included into other international bibliographics databases, including SCOPUS (Elsevier), INSPEC, EBSCO, ProQuest in TEMA-DOMA (please see http://apem-journal.org/).

COBISS.SI-ID: 20049942Use of pedicle screw systems for vertebral fusion is very popular in spine surgery. It is routinely used for stabilization between two or more spinal levels in degenerative, traumatic, oncogenic or preoperatively deformed vertebrae. Although the method is generally safe it carries some risks connected with accurate screw placement. For this reason we have developed and clinicaly tested a method of pedicle screw placement in lumbar and sacral region using drill guide template created by Additive Manufacturing.
