We coordinated and were actively involved into preparation of strategic research innovative partnership (SRIP) in the field of Smart Cities and Communities, as a part of Slovenian Smart Specialization Strategy. The SRIP, that was accepted for execution by the Ministry of economic development and technology and is already functioning, will enhance the common execution of research and development programs of academic and industrial partners and will merge knowledge and competencies for development of new products, services and processes.
D.01 Chairing over/coordinating (international and national) projects
COBISS.SI-ID: 30444071We proposed a novel approach to statistical comparison of meta-heuristic stochastic optimization algorithms, named Deep Statistical Comparison (DSC). The main contribution of the approach is the novel ranking scheme that is based on comparing distributions instead of using only one statistic, such as average or median. The results show that approach gives more robust results compared to the standard approach for making a statistical comparison in cases when the results are affected by outliers or statistical insignificant differences that exist between data values. The DSC web-based tool is available at http://ws.ijs.si/dsc/.
F.24 Improvements to existing system-wide, normative and programme solutions, and methods
COBISS.SI-ID: 30918695We developed and introduced a freely available e-learning tool for statistics in natural sciences and technologies. The users can check the required conditions of each statistical method and uses those methods that are appropriate for analysing the experimental data. The tool is available at http://ws.ijs.si/statTool/. We also prepared tutorial on the e-learning tool and the usage of statistical analysis.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 30910503In the frame of Horizon 2020 project we started the local competence center offering technology brokerage via an EU-wide Competence Centres Network and assistance to the SMEs in the activities supporting the European “Smart Anything Everywhere” initiative in the domain of customized low energy computing for cyber-physical systems and internet of things.
D.07 Presiding over a centre/laboratory
In cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor, we organized, for the fourteen consecutive year, the Nature-inspired algorithms workshop dealing with stochastic optimization techniques. The workshop attendant come from various Slovenian research organizations and faculties. Lectures are given also by foreign researchers.
