The aim of the conference was to accelerate the flow of knowledge and information in the field of creative industries. Ten researchers - nine from Slovenia and one from Germany - discussed how developed are the cultural and creative industries in Slovenia and what is their role in a sustainable economy; which socio-cultural projects and initiatives creatively support sustainable and participatory development of Ljubljana; and how can such activities contribute to social innovation while preserving the environment. The researcher also presented a paper "Creative green practices: strategies with social effect?". The conference concluded with a round table "From mapping of cultural and creative industries to concrete actions", where the representatives of the Ministry of Culture, City of Ljubljana, Kino Šiska and Society Association discussed how public funds, which are often spent for merely mapping a situation, can be redirected to empower artists and producers, and in this way contribute to sustainable urban development as well as stimulating cultural policy. The program is available at: http://www.poligon.si/ustvarjalna-zelena-ljubljana/, while recordings of presentations and round table can be found on the YouTube channel of ZRC SAZU.

COBISS.SI-ID: 40926765The panel on the 14th EASA Biennial Conference brought together researchers dealing with abandoned urban places where the presence of its former inhabitants cannot be directly perceived since their heritage is silenced within the hegemonic heritage discourse and subject to the processes of (non)heritagisation. The participants presented practices where marginal groups gained power to be heard and, by bringing together different population groups with diverse memories and understandings of local heritage, succeeded to influence the revival of urban spaces. In a presentation "Abandoned factories and authoritative revitalization plans: what about the workers?", the researcher also drew attention to material and intangible memories of former workers of the Tobacco factory, which is now transformed into the administrative center of the City of Ljubljana and hosts the Institute for development of creative industries Poligon. Artists and cultural producers who use its premises for co-working revive the memory on the factory, but they disregard the workers' memories and rather build upon preserved aesthetic elements of tangible heritage. The author also questioned the potential of marginalized, mute memories for artistic creation.

COBISS.SI-ID: 40100909The presentation at international anthropological conference Urban economies, organized by the Department of Ethnology at LMU Munich, explored social creativity evolving around food in Ljubljana. The network of social actors from the “creative economy” and beyond creates a lively atmosphere of informal and formal food economies which exist next to and benefit from each other. On the other hand, some of the practices are being criticized to gentrify places, authoritatively shape and control everyday life, and commercialize common goods. The questions addressed included: Which cultural practices, related to food production and consumption, have developed into informal economic activities? What kind of social innovations arise from such practices? How do they influence formal local economy? What is their contribution to the city’s “creative economy” and “creative”, “green”, and “cultural” image? What can we learn from their critiques?
