The article examines the connection between the mobility flows and development through two case studies in People's Republic of China. In the last years the mobility emerged as a be-all and end-all solution to development problems of left-behind communities, but s this article argues one needs to situate the mobility flows in order to understand what particular role they play in the development of the community.

The book addresses the mobility flows from People’s republic of China, especially with regards to construing the ethnic boundary between the groups (self)ascribed as ‘Slovenes’ and ‘Chinese’. It is an in-depth analysis of historical and contemporary elements that form the building blocks for specific discourses and practices of the Slovenia’s majority society towards the Other (in this particular instance materialized as Chinese). The book was in the making all through the second half of the 2015, but came out in the second week of 2016.
