The paper describes the main goals and early findings of the research project regarding the automatic traffic sign recognition and implies it’s practical use. Regarding the target audience we are mainly focused on applicative use of the project’s early findings and consequently on the optimization of processes in the state and private institutions (DRSI, DARS, municipalities, …).
B.03 Paper at an international scientific conference
Several project members are the main organizers of the short-term visual object tracking challenges, VOT. The aim of the challenges is a large-scale distributed comparison of short-term visual tracking techniques and establishing a common performance evaluation methodology in short-term midlevel tracking. The VOT project committee is international and includes partners from Slovenia, Great Britain, Austria, Czech Republic, Australia, and Sweden. The members of the project committee are lead methodologists, analysts and scientific coordinators. In addition to the challenges, they also organized two workshops at main computer vision conferences: VOT2013 at ICCV2013, and VOT2014 at ECCV2014. Both challenges as well as the workshops have received a highly positive response from the community. Over 50 authors have submitted their results to the VOT2014 challenge; the list included authors both from universities as well as industry. In 2014/15, the main open source library in computer vision, OpenCV, issued a call for several challenges in computer vision. For the tracking challenge, they have chosen the dataset that was developed as part of VOT2014 challenge. From the methodological point of view, visual tracking will be used in the project for establishing correspondences between regions on neighbouring images in video sequences.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1536160963The listed dissertation has not resulted from the work on this project; yet it demonstrates the determination of the senior members of the project team to transfer the knowledge to their younger colleagues. A member of the project team, Matjaž Majnik, has been working, under the supervision of the project leader, on his doctoral dissertation, which in larger part coincides with some of the research challenges addressed in the project.
