Plenary lecture at a conference Matjaž Finšgar was invited to give a lecture at the conference in Ludwigshafen. Special attention was devoted to corrosion inhibitor formulation design, its compatibility with other oilfield ingredients, costs, and environmental impact. In particular, the lecture focused on the synergistic effects of different components, along with the most effective and environmentally acceptable intensifiers used at elevated temperatures.

COBISS.SI-ID: 18133014Invited lecture at a conference Matjaž Finšgar was invited to deliver a lecture at the ICMT 2014 conference. The lecture explained the electrochemical and surface analytical study of molecules on metallic materials. Special attention was devoted to the analysis of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements for measurements of the adsorbed molecules on different metals. Surface bonding and the orientation of molecules were presented in particular detail.

COBISS.SI-ID: 18189590Lecture at a conference Lecture at the Eurocorr 2014 conference in Pisa, Italy, which focused on the compatibility of inhibited or non-inhibited methanesulfonic (MSA) and steel materials used for well construction. In our experience, inhibitors for MSA solution can be effective for HCl solution as well, however this is not always the case and frequently the chemistry effective for MSA is not necessarily effective for HCl. We presented how to formulate a mixture consisting of an inhibitor, surfactant, solvent, and intensifier in order to improve inhibition effectiveness compared to the individual inhibitor compounds. This mixture is called a corrosion inhibitor formulation (CIF). CIF design was presented especially for the lower-grade steel materials that are the most commonly used construction materials for gas and oil wells.
