Kras, for its natural conditions, is one of the most valuable but also the most vulnerable areas. The whole Kras area is considered as landscape amenity and its characteristics and features makes it a world-known phenomena. Landscape management guidelines emphasize the importance of prevention of spontaneous forest owergrowth and, consequently, preservation of characteristic plant communities, preservation of vinyards, orchards and also pastures and meadows and drywalls. Controlled karts land reclamations, preservation of fields in sinkholes, and preservation of typical settlement patterns is also emphasized. The paper highlights the impacts of different land uses, which do not follow the landscape management guidelines for the Kras area.
