The key purpose of the project was to help increase the analytical value of the existing databases, to create new performance indicators of Slovenian agriculture, and to develop new modeling tools to systematically support decision making process in planning, management and performance assessment at farm-level, as well as at the national level. The key objectives of the project were achieved: the existing databases (SO, FADN, model calculations) were systematically assessed from the point of view of their usefulness, updated or developed anew were the analytical data systems (model calculations, SO), new modeling tools (model KMG, SEZAM) were developed, as well a new approach to economic counseling was developed (discussion groups). Thus, the key message of the project is that the foundations for the evidence-based decision making in Slovenian agriculture were laid. Nevertheless, without an increased use, quality improvement and upgrading of databases, as well as without (permanent) maintenance and development of analytical databases and modeling tools, the achieved results within this project will not bring about significant changes. Systemic and institutional changes are needed; the decisions about these lie with the state.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5419624In recent years, the idea of monitoring and a better knowledge of economic efficiency at farm-level has become more and more relevant. Thus, we try to better understand how a certain type of agricultural holdings operates in given economic conditions and how efficient it is. For this purpose, the farm-level model was developed. In this contribution the concept of a modeling tool, based on the Model calculations of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, was presented. The farm-level model was presented as an example of the possible integration of different data sources and model approach to assess the quality and relevance of certain data and indicators at farm level, i.e. FADN data.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4057992The paper describes the methodology of model calculations of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia and provides additional explanations for the reference model calculations from the standard set. The general starting points, the concept and structure of the model calculations system are presented. The detailed databases necessary for the construction of model calculations, the method for inputs valuation and the approach to calculating the costs are presented in detail. This publication includes also different ways of presenting the model calculation results and various derived indicators based on these results. In the second part, detailed explanations are given for the reference model calculations from the standard set, separately for crop and livestock production.
F.16 Improvements to an existing information system/databases
COBISS.SI-ID: 5466728The key results of the first phase of the quality analysis of FADN data for Slovenia were presented at the 24th Pacioli Workshop in Pristina (Kosovo) in September 2016. Pacioli conducts annual international workshops for coordinators, experts and researchers of microeconomic databases, such as FADN. Other stakeholders in the European and national FADN networks attend the Pacioli workshops too; therefore the presentation of results is important for getting the feedback, exchange the ideas and consult with the experts in the field. 2016 workshop focused on the experience of individual Member States in adapting to the emerging data needs, the use of other administrative or commercial information sources, and on methods for improving the efficiency of data collection.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5139816The key results of the second phase of the FADN data quality analysis for Slovenia were presented in October 2017 at the 25th Pacioli Workshop in Helsingor (Denmark). Pacioli is an annual international workshop of coordinators, experts and researchers of microeconomic databases, such as FADN. Key second-phase results related to the following quality components for FADN data were presented: accessibility and clarity (economic counseling to agricultural holdings), accuracy and reliability, sound methodology and appropriate procedures (cross-checking of FADN data with other databases; farm-level model), relevance (support to agricultural policy, identification of data needs of agricultural advisers and agricultural holdings).
