Members of the project group lecture on the topics of consumer law and act as mentors to student theses in the regular course of law studies (Bologna levels I, II and III) at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana.

The author presents and analyses the changes in the determining of international jurisdiction between EU Member States in insurance, consumer and labour issues introduce by the reform of the Brussels I Regulation, which entered into force in January 2015.

COBISS.SI-ID: 14049361The lecture discussed, inter alia, the relationship between the protection of consumer benefits with express provision of statutory rights on the one hand and creating consumer favorable market position by promoting and protecting the competition between suppliers of goods and services in the market on the other hand. A comparison of the consumers’ position in European countries and in the US often reveals that, despite the lower level of regulation the US consumer actually enjoy better chances of withdrawal, refund, elimination of errors etc., which is mainly due to a higher level of competition in the US market.
