The series of lectures focused on the intersection of philosophy, psychoanalysis and art, particularly from the standpoint of ontology and of its eventual political implications. The lectures dealt with the philosophical and ontological relevance of the specific Freudian/Lacanian concept of sexuality. By means of analysis of two works of art (Jean Genet’s The Balcony and Lars von Trier’s The Boss of It All) they have also attempted to bring to light the importance of these works in the context of contemporary philosophy.

The lecture was dedicated to the analysis of the famous Renaissance painting “Cutting the Stone of Madness” created by Hieronymus Bosch. On the basis of the analysis, the lecture proceeded by explaining the hidden connection between the paradoxical inner reflexivity typical of some Renaissance art-works, and the structure of the Cartesian cogito.
