This paper shall analyse the topic of remembrance about the First World War in the Soča Region and in the wider Slovenian society, aiming to shed some light on individual historisation phases and the responses of the Slovenian academic community on the initiatives from international as well as Slovenian amateur circles. It shall thus show how remembrance practices have been bound to the idea of peace and coexistence among (neighbouring) nations, and how they used to be subject to forced practices of the politics in power, ultimately showing to what extent the historisation of the Great War often eluded them.
