The Master's thesis, prepared under the mentorship of Jože Pirjevec and comentorship of Mateja Režek, sheds light on Slovenian views on the Soviet Union during the period of the Slovenian struggle for independence. The research is focused on two Slovenian groups, which had connections with the Soviets – politicians and businessmen. In the context of this research, author refuted two myths, connected with the Slovenian struggle for independence; one about Slovenians who looked exclusively towards the West, and the second about Soviets and their successors, who were supposed to be friends of the Serbs and with this, opponents of the Slovenian sovereignty.
