The effects of divorce on society and economy are proven negative and permanent, have direct and indirect consequences on individual, society and the economy. Given the large number of divorces in our country, this also applies to our situation, namely, children, in particular, are exposed to negative and long-term negative consequences, while it has been shown that the effects of divorce are negatively visible even in their adulthood in various fields. The paper is based on practical and empirical findings of foreign studies focusing on various forms of providing help to children who are facing the process of divorce taking place within the children’s' safe place, in which they spend a lot of time, such as educational institutions. Practical examples of forms of professional help, which proved to be effective in preventing the consequences of divorce abroad, have been presented at the Congress of the Association for Social Education to professionals who deal directly with consultancy aid provided for children in schools, also with a view to the implementation of good practice in our region, because we are not familiar with such forms of help and there is also a deficit in the prevention of the effects of divorce on children. The reactions were very positive and cooperation with experts in this field has shown that in some places they intensely think about creating such programs in educational environments.

COBISS.SI-ID: 6701402The paper also presents the complex situation in the life cycle of the family, particularly in terms of a woman; this is a process of transition to parenthood or motherhood, whereby the author focuses on analysing the areas of transition into motherhood as risk factors for marital instability in the first years of partnership/marriage. The transition to parenthood is one of the most stressful processes in the life of individual, raising, among other things, a lot of anxiety, feelings of incompetence, feelings of loss of autonomy and change in identity. For the partner, the birth of the first child particularly presents the period, for which studies have shown the highest rate of risk for separation or divorce. The paper is focusing on an overview of the basic themes of transition in motherhood and in this relation warning on the quality of the relationship with the partner. This has opened up an important debate on the importance of in-depth understanding of changes that occur in the mother at childbirth and affect the relationship between the partners, which can also lead to the creation of appropriate approaches to solving problems in the early stages of partnership, which can be an important step towards preventing separation or divorce.
